I am a 48 year old Sr.Manager Procurement. I have worked monotonously as a traditional routine type manger all along. Being in a service dept, it was a thankless job which kept me always on the wrong side of the stick thus timid and apeasing. People disnt respect me in real sense though do appreciate my pleasentness as and when it suits them. Ina stroke of luck I have been offered a job of V.P-Procurement in an MNC. Though I feel I will be able to handle the job technically but I am not confident as to how will I handle new staff and even couple of director Procurement reporting to me. I am lacking confidence of how to make a perfect entry that will save me from the issues I had in my last job. Can someone guide me or suggest a good reading as to how to be a good V.P, who can get jobs done from others maintaining the respect and auhority smartly.
