I'm doing a really good job at work, the bosses and co-workers are commenting a few times a day, don't want to seem like I'm cocky when there are others doing better. Was told today that I can't take a compliment. :) How can I be gracious without being cocky?

  1. Just say "Thank you" when you are complimented. That's it, no explanations or excuses. And if you don't want to seem cocky, just remember to compliment others as well when the situation warrants it.

    Good luck.

  2. I would start by saying a simple "Thank you".  I am the same way.  My parents gushed over me when I graduated nursing school and 25 years before this, my mom was verbally and emotionally abusive...So, in your heart, know that you are doing your best, and go for it...this is good and you should be proud...I would be...Just say to yourself in the mirror " you did it" and smile....
