  1. Kid it sounds like you just want the title of Army Ranger. Most guys who join for that reason don't make it. Rangers are the only infantry who are under SOCOM and has some of the hardest training a soldier can go through. If you really want it you have to be smart and physically fit. RIP will have you training all day then some. In order to graduate you have to be able to run 5 miles in under 40 minutes, do more than 6 dead hang pull ups, more than 60 push ups in two minutes and 80 sit ups in two minutes. RIP has a 75-85% wash out rate. then you have to ACE RPFT to stay in the Rangers. Rangers fight how they train with live ammo and at night. If you make it to a Ranger battalion you'll be part of high risk raids on airfields, other high priority targets during an invasion of a country, and or providing security for counter terrorism  groups such as CAG. Also, direct action missions where Rangers go into a city at night at light up anything that shoots. Becoming and staying a Ranger is one of the hardest jobs in the Army but will be more than worth it if you don't mind a lot of pain.

  2. If you don't know what they do then why do you want to be one

  3. After Basic training (usually at Ft. Benning, GA) you will need to complete 11 Bravo training (infantry school). You will have to apply for Airborne School after that.I think it last about 6-8 additional weeks. Ranger school is for the most elite who have completed Airborne SChool. Your commander will have to recommend you based on your training scores and performance so far. On the average one-fourth of these who start Ranger school never graduate. you had better be in damned good physical condition to succeed in Ranger School. All of this training takes place at Benning. I think they also do the same training at Ft. Campbell or Ft. Bragg.

  4. Actually, the guy before me is wrong.  You get an Airborne Ranger contract from your recruiter.  The MOS is 11X.  You'll go to 19 weeks of OSUT or one site unit training at the beautiful Ft. Benning, Ga.  After graduating, you spend 8 weeks in Airborne school.  If you pass this, then it's off to RIP or Ranger Indoctrination Program.  This is to weed out those who don't have it in them to finish.

Okay, if you pass Infantry training, Airborn, and RIP, then you finally go to Ranger School.  This is pure h**l.  You'll experience exhaustion, starvation, sleep deprivation and be pushed further than you've ever even dreamt you could go.  If, and only if you pass Ranger School and get your tab, then you're good.  You can either be sent to a Ranger Bat or another unit, but you keep your tab.  Average washout for Ranger School is about 85%.

I washed out after a broken ankle and didn't want to restart.
