How to be more popular in my new school?

i am 14 and i just started high school. i do have some friends because they came from the same middle school as me and also playing baseball in leagues i got to know some people. but for the people the came form other school i don't know them and i want to be more popular with them as well as the kids i already know i am not a nerd or any thing i am not that popular ether i am just in the middle i just want to be more popular in are school the kids that aren't shy and like to joke around are popular but i am funny but because i am shy i don't talk that much so plz help. and i want girls to like me more even doe they don't want to go out with me i just want them to notice me more and want to be my friend even my girl friend. i want to be liked by every one in my class. and they say i got a good chance of making my high school baseball team and the jocks are real popular. when i walk up to girls i want them to want me to kiss them in the cheek like they do with the popular kids plus school started a day ago so i want to start from a clean slate i cut my hair lost my braces and every thing so plz help. oh and i want to make more freinds that are girls becuse most of my freind are guys

Just be yourself,because maybe someone popular might come to you and want to be friends with you.Popular people is not the answer.You will see then you will find out who your real friends is.Trust Me!

Two suggestions I would have

1. Make a point of introducing yourself to people who don't know you yet. "Just say hi, I'm [insert your name]. I'm in 10th grade so all this stuff is new to me. I'm just trying to introduce myself so I get to know more people faster." Or something like that. Set a goal to introduce yourself to at least 2 or 3 people a day for the first couple of weeks. See how it goes by then.

2. Look for the opportunity to give someone a genuine complement. Don't ham it up. Don't be too personal. Just practice good sense. This is a skill that will help you anywhere, but it can be a great icebreaker. Practice makes perfect. Make sure its a genuine complement, and not untrue or too corny.  

Some examples:

1. Nice job in class handling that question by the teacher

2. I really like your hair

3. Boy are you smooth. I really like your style.

4. Great music solo.

5. Great speech in front of class. Good job.

Don't over do the "oh you're so smart" stuff. Practice some complements on your close friends to get their take on them. Set a goal to complement somebody you don't know that well at least once a day. Make it a habit. It's another great icebreaker.

Great Question! My name is Jon and I am going into Grade 8. I have been in public school my whole life, and I guess that I know alot about this. Ive struggled with bullying and peer pressure through the past 9 years. So my advice is be your self. Wear what you like to wear. If It makes you feel good then you should be happy. When you go there you will face alot of new challenges. But you need to hang in there. Want to know what I recently did that helps alot! I am going to a new school next year and I decided to try to get a new look, so I did. I look different, feel different and have a better attitude about life.

Another thing you should really do is write a blog all the time to vent out your feelings, and maybe somebody would enjoy to read your experiences. Thats what I am doing. I suffer from depression and havnt been really having a good time in life general lately, so why dont you also check out my blog. It will help you about going to a new school.

First drop your ego. NO girl likes someone who just floats around in the halls. maybe its your clothes? try abercrombie, abercrombie && fitch and hollister. also petend your a "celebrity" that way you always stand up straight. try watching john tucker must die (sorry i know its a girly movie) and try to be confident like him without being a player. that would help.
