  1. sell all you have and  move to canadian forests and start living of nature.

invest your money to good gears and timber tools.

in another words, the way nature intended in a first place, and not in suburbs,  working at factory to buy cars, plastic mobile phones and vedgetableburgers

  2. Walk to the shops, use energy efficient light bulbs, instead of turning the heating on put a sweater on, try to use appliances that use less energy, insulate your home, purchase a water butt, recycle and have a compost heap.

    hope this helps xx

  3. Do you meditate? Because the answers will come more easily if you can sit down some where and really focus on your question, because the answers are close and surround you everywhere. The key to being green is the choices you make everyday in your life. Do I walk or ride my bike to go six blocks to the store, or do I ride the bus or drive a car? Do I replace a light bulb with a more expensive low-e type or by the cheapest just like the old one? Do I check out the consignment shop or Goodwill for new cloths, or do I go to the mall and buy an $80.00 shirt from Europe? Do I turn up the thermostat to 80 in January because I want to wear shorts and a tee shirt inside today, or do I were something I can be comfortable in if I were to set the thermostat to 68? See where this is going??? It takes work and dedication, it is not easy being green. But if you can do it, be proud and help others.

  4. Start by recycling everything, becoming conscious of how much water you use, obtaining solar or wind power instead of relying on electric companies, become aware and try to lessen your fossil fuel usage, and, also, use cloth bags for groceries instead of plastic and paper bags.

Start with whatever you can, and continue to educate yourself as to how you can do other things to become more ecologically "smart."

Plant an organic garden, if you can. This gives you a two-fold benefit: 1. Plants use carbon dioxide to grow and emit oxygen. 2. You benefit from the vegetables and fruits. Oh yes, you also get exercise while caring for your garden.

Otherwise, buy fruits and vegies from those who grow organic. Not only is it better for you, you also know that pesticides and chemicals were not used.

This cooling has already killed hundreds of thousands of people. If it continues and no strong action is taken, it will cause world famine, world chaos and world war, and this could all come about before the year 2000. -- Lowell Ponte "The Cooling", 1976

If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder by the year 2000...This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age. -- Kenneth E.F. Watt on air pollution and global cooling, Earth Day (1970)

What we've got to do in energy conservation is try to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, to have approached global warming as if it is real means energy conservation, so we will be doing the right thing anyway in terms of economic policy and environmental policy. -- Timothy Wirth, former U.S. Senator (D-Colorado)

If radical environmentalists were to invent a disease to bring human populations back to sanity, it would probably be something like AIDS -- Earth First! Newsletter

  6. To me, the best way to be "greener" is simply to consume less.

I'm a minimalist and I try to live as simple of a life as possible. That means not buying stuff I don't really need.

When I do buy stuff, I buy the best quality I can afford so that it will last longer. Avoid buying stuff just because it's cheaper because you may be less satisfied and end up buying more and throwing away the c**p you don't like.

I have no pictures hanging on my walls. I don't have vases with fake flowers in my bathroom. My kitchen counters are bare except for those items I use on a daily basis. My shower doesn't have 20 different products lying around. My husband and I share a small fuel efficient car.

I go grocery shopping almost daily because I don't want to buy things and have them go to waste. I only want to buy things I'm going to use. I avoid buying stuff that I will eventually have to get stored or go to a landfill.

I used to buy so many things because I was part of the consumerist culture, but now I get upset when I see an advertisement that tries to tell me that I need to buy some new product. I used to buy 4 different shampoos because they smelled good, or some new thing to decorate my home.

One day I just gradually started donating all the stuff I had accumulated. Now I feel so much more peacefull knowing that I'm not weighing my life down with useless stuff and I'm happier knowing I'm leaving a much smaller footprint on the Earth.

  7. Once you have decided to be more green it's easy - remember the easy mantra "reduce, re-use, recycle".  I personally think the first one is most important - the real problem with the way we live is we simply consume too much stuff and generate too much waste.  It's great to recycle stuff but just don't buy it in the first place!  Question everything you buy - including soda!  Do you really want it or need it?  Or are you just primed to think you do by the marketing?  Or is it just a habit?  Why drive to the supermarket and spend loads of money on food (half of which goes off in the fridge) when you could walk to the local shop and just buy what you know you need now?  Live simply, save money and save the planet!

  8. i recycle , im kinda trying to be a veg. head lol !

and so on i am aganist killing live stock even if they were breed to turn into food !

    and yea

  9. Hi, there was few good tips already - light bulbs are good start, economy appliances - we bought new washer last year, only uses enough water for the load and the cycle is about 30 minutes - I can see difference in my water bill. We do not have dryer and life is just fine without it, actually saves clothing and air dried clothes smell so fresh :-) We also do not use AC unless really necessary, this year we used little but as little as possible. It is matter of time to get used to life without it. Our heat we split between wood stove and furnace. We live in town, so I have the luxury to walk to post office, bank and small store. We also tried garden, it goes o.k. but it is not easy for people without "green thumb" - but we are trying :-) good luck

  11. A really fun way to be more green is to learn how to use stuff around your house for other things, instead of throwing things out and buying new ones.  Learning to sew is one way you can be a LOT more green.

Get creative!  Turn old skirts and pants into purses and bags that you can carry groceries, etc. in.  With a straight skirt, all you have to do is sew the bottom shut and use a nice rope or ribbon for the strap.  Recently I took a pair of drawstring pants, cut the legs off, sewed the bottom straight across, and sewed the drawsting to each side for the strap.  It looks super cool and it was totally easy.

You can also take old clothes and make them current by adapting a few little things here and there.  You can even buy things at second hand stores and add to them or change parts - like taking off the collar, sleeves or trim, turning dresses into tops, sewing skirts to tops to turn them into a dress, adding fake fur or fake feathers to the collar or wrist.  Also, try to think of what you can wear other ways - ie. a bustier over top of another dress to give a Victorian look, a scarf on your head or as a belt, etc.  There are lots of things to do to make it feel like you have a new wardrobe without actually buying or getting rid of anything.

You could also host a "Clothes Swap" for you and your friends where everyone brings clothes they want to get rid of and you trade.  Friends of mine do this, and I haven't had a chance to attend but it sounds like a great way to be green.
