Smile and say hello to everyone you are introduced to. A smile is the biggest ice breaker. No one wants to talk to someone who seems like they don't want to be there.

Since it is for your mom's work, people will probably ask you about yourself. They have most likely heard about you from your mom.

Just keep it pleasant and positive.

smile a lot of speak to people.  if you are going with your mom ,  ask her for guidance.   she will probably introduce you to people.  i'd expect many people will want to meet you.    be polite / don't discuss religous/ political sort of things.   try to remember names and tell people it's been nice to meet them.
