How to become A Telemarketer?

Question

I'm 16 years old and have my working permit. I know a lot of people don't recommend it but I really want to become one. I live in New York in Westchester County. If you could give me some advice or links to job ads for Telemarketing in my area it be great. Thank You.

I have been in telemarketing for years and I love it.

My best advice for your first telemarketing job is to find something you probably won't like.  I NEVER hire someone for a telemarketing position unless they've worked at another telemarketing job before.  I don't care if they only lasted one day-at least they understand how tough the job can be.  

You'll probably hate your first job because the rejection can quickly get to you.  However, once you understand and can deal with rejection, the next job will be much easier.  

My absolute favorite statement people make is, "We're eating dinner right now."   Well, if dinner was so damned important, why did they answer the phone?

For all of those people that don't recommend telemarketing as a job, I would remind them that at least you're not on food stamps or welfare. You are contributing to society.  

If telemarketing didn't work, why would businesses spend money on telemarketers?

Yeah, Jose V is right.  Especially if you live in Asia.  However, there is no limit to the opportunities in telemarketing even if you are residing in the US.  There are companies out there that are looking for this kind of service through the internet.  This falls under Virtual Assistant where they pay you for the hours you've worked online or maybe a fixed fee, it depends actually.  You can try ODesk.com and Elance.com.  Sign up and post your profile and you'll most likely find employers who need the kind of service that you wanna offer.
