I play fastpitch softball. I'm 16 and I have played fastpitch at the highest level possible for my entire life. I want to play college ball and I believe that the best possible way for me to accomplish that goal is to become a 5-tool player. From what I've heard the 5-tools are, hitting, hitting for power, speed, fielding, throwing. My strengths right now are hitting for average and fielding. What are some drills that I can do to improve all of the 5-tools? Preferably drills that can be done with just one person, since I usually work on my game by myself everyday for a few hours. Thanks.

  1. Speed isn't something you can simply acquire. But you can help by working on your leg strength. Do squats. Lots of squats. By helping your leg strength, you'll also help out your throwing speed and power. Your core and legs is where most of your power comes from, whether it's running, throwing, or hitting. So do squats and ab workouts.
