How to become a PC technician?

I want to be PC Technician. What classes would I have to take in college? I have already taken Fundamentals of IT Essentials. (PC Repair)

Introduction to Networking and Telecommunications and Microsoft Office.

What else would I need? Any info, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know where I can work alongside someone in a computer business in Simi Valley, CA, as like an intern, so I can acquire more skills and ask questions if need be?

  1. Actually youve got enough to get started already.  You should look for a phone support/help desk job.  That is usually how you get started.  After a year or two of that then you start looking for a desktop support position.  And there you go.  Its not that hard to get into really with the classes you already have, especially if you add a few more while you work.

  2. Practicing and facing more PC problems is what you have to do to.

There are a lot of problems out there, but since you have the fundamentals , it will favor you in the field.

    learn programming

    e.g

    python, vb6.0,java,c family

this will broaden you the more.Download them online they are free.

Learn some of them or all, face problems on PC's out there, get a certificate for your self and apply for a part time job somewhere.

  3. Take electronics and computer engineering classes.  However, they will be nowhere near as useful as picking up books on troubleshooting in the library and bookstore.  Also, if you work for a company, they will give you on the job training.

I've been tech support for over two years and learning in the office has been the only tool I've really needed (other than Google.)
