How to become a Police Dog Trainer?

Does anyone know what the process is for training up Police Dogs, as would be quite interested in doing this as they are amazing dogs? I have tried looking it up on the Internet but can't find anything so if their are any Dog Handlers out there who know about this process then please let me know. I live in Devon so if you know where the nearest Police Dog Unit is to here then that would be brilliant!

  1. think you may have to join the police force for that

  2. you need to first of all, become a regular police officer..

you need to do a years probation - which is on the beat

then (and normally they dont let you untuil you have done 2 years)

you can request to transfere to police dog squad...

it takes time.. but it is great

im a traffic cop and i love my job!!

  3. The Police train the dogs themselves so you should join the Police.

  4. You first need to become a Police officer, pass your 12 months probation and then after 2-4 years on the plod, you can then put in to specialise as a Dog Trainer. Got this from a friend who is a Police Dog Trainer.

  5. I would find professional dog trainers(not necessarily police dog trainers) in your area and ask them what it takes.
