How to become a Theoritical Physicist ????

I'm in second year university and I'm doing mechatronics...but to be honest i'm really interested in quantum physics and all the theories that explain the structure of our universe such as String theory... i didn't go to Physics cause i know there aren't to many jobs for it...so i want to do Theoretical physics beside engineering... i want to learn string theory deeply with all the details and everything. how can i do that ? thanks a lot !!!

oh and by the way any good books you know of ?

  1. You are kidding yourself.  You can't become a part time theoretical physicist.  I suggest you stay with mechatronics.  If you are interested in it, it is a very good field.  

    Keep up with physics as a interested person.
