  1. honestly you really can't become a better grappler unless you're physically grappling with someone and getting the`feel for all of the positions and submissions.  best thing you can do now is develop lots of core strength though core excercises.  here's and idea: start your own grappling/mma club with coworkers/schoolmates/strangers just in your backyard or wherever.  your local high school wrestling team might`let you train with them on the off season if you ask them.

  2. you can practice grappling with a long pillow and lifting weights help a little but its all in the concentration and focus meditating helps but if your not buddhist, you can just clear you mind

  3. Poster above me..

You do realize that there is only one 10th dan in Judo currently alive? Toshiro Diago, and he is 82 years old, I think your friend might be lying to you.

You can do Gi pull ups, and strength and conditioning, but sadly with no partners or no one to help you, grappling by yourself isn't a tremendous help. But there are lots of conditioning things you can do, such as Uchi Komi in Judo (steps ins with a resistance band)m there are grappling dummies, that you can use simply to strengthen yourself by lifting awkward weight.

But as far as proficiency, it will not help that much other than making you stronger. You still need active participation in grappling to get better.

  4. What are studying with.  There are lots of videos out there and you can find the most popular one's on torrent sites.  Check out the training section in the forums on Sherdog.com if you want a lot of info specific to this.

  5. First you need to find someone thats willing to train with you on a regular basis. Then you could buy instructional dvds and just drill each move hundreds of times with your friend. Keep training and hope a school turns up. You won't get all that good without a qualified instructor but you can start to get familiar with some stuff.
