Hi, (please only respond if you know)

I have a degree in physics from a university in california. I have been living in canada for 3 months and migrated to the country and have been here 'illegally.' I have been working and are paid under the table as a waiter. I, obviously, speak perfect english.

My question is, how can I become a Canadian Permanent resident in my situation, if possible?

if all you have to say is get a lawyer or go to the http://www.cic.gc.ca website, please just dont say anything.

  1. Not while in Canada illegally,if you had legal status in Canada, say working with a temporary work visa is difficult  enough.Right now you are showing the government you are a criminal. You and your employer are guilty of defrauding Revenue Canada the most powerful part of government .You both could see jail time ,not for the illegal immigration but for the tax fraud.Even drug dealers file taxes because they fear Revenue Canada more than the police.Revenue Canada does not care were you get your money as long as they get there cut.

  2. you have to return to your home country and apply to immigrate

you cant do it from Canada, soon as you lodge the application they will know you are an illegal immigrant and deport you ,then you can never move to Canada
