  1. This is Michigan's director requirements.  It will vary from state to state.  Get online and download your state's licensing requirements.

Hope that gives you an idea.

  2. it depends on the state you live in.  when i first became a director (in missouri) their standards are based upon education (how many college credits you have) and experience in a licensed center.  that was the basic and there were higher standards of course.  i live in va. now and the standards are very different.  look at the site below and find your state and find the qualifications for a director and then you can work towards that goal.  you may have to be a lead teacher or assistant director first, but you'll get there.

  3. It depends on which state you live. Each state has different laws for starting a childcare center. First you should get your CDA  and director's credentials. If you really want to upgrade your education get you bachelor's in childcare. The more education you have the better. After you get your education go to your state or local childcare department. In FL where i live it's 4C or Dept of children and families. Then they'll tell you what you have to do next. Then take out a loan for the building, toys, and the licenses you have to get. Then you have to set up appointments with the fire dept and health dept  so they can see the building you choose. Starting a childcare center from scratch takes years and money, so make sure you have the time, money and heart.
