  1. I'm a girl and please dont make fun of me while reading this. I have been playing basketball for 8 years now i improve myself by playing boys that are better than me. i also recommend practicing inside shots and working on penetrating an opponet. also work on your blocks so you can get more charges. after your inside shot is better practice 3's or far 2's

  2. BEEF.

B-Balance (set your legs shoulder width apart, elbows, hand should be in line with toes.

E-Eyes- Keep your eyes on the basket.

E-Elbow- Keep your elbow tucked in. Not out to the side.

F-Follow through. Hold your follow through until the ball hits the ground/basket.

When you practice shooting everyday, start your shots close, and in the "easy" range. Spend 10-15 minutes practicing your shot, making sure you are aiming nicely, and lined up. Do NOT worry about making the shot during this time. Worry about form. After 15 minutes, start backing up a little until you can make shots from farther back. Now worry about making the shot. You can aim for the front of the rim, and remember to use arch. You can't rush shooting, it takes a while to get better, depending on how hard you work on it.

    Good luck!

  3. It's gonna take a lot of practice.  First you should have good fundamentals to support a good shooting form, so make sure you are steady with the rest of your game.  Next, work on your form, starting from in front of the basket if you have to. Have your body squared to the basket, keep your elbow close to your body with your shooting hand on top of the ball and your off hand supporting it on the side. Get your knees bent and elevate straight up and release the ball on the top of your jump.  Get a nice arc so the ball goes over the front of the basket.  Work on that and then move on to shooting off the dribble and off of a pass.  If you need more help, you should look for BetterBasketball DVDs to help.

  4. its all about form. get some1 you know that shoots well have them look at your form and have them tell you need to do better about your form

  5. Practice often. Shoot around in your backyard, at your school, at practice, after practice. But remember to practice the proper form & footwork. Shoot the basketball hundreds and thousands of times. That's the only way to improve as a shooter.

Don't practice shooting the ball with bad form. If you are using bad form, you might as well not even practice.

Practice "game" type shots. Don't bother shooting the ball from 35 feet out. That's not the type of shot you're going to be taking in a game. Practice shooting from the spots on the floor that you are likley to shoot from in a game. If you're a post player, you'll probably shoot from the low post, middle of the key, or maybe the free throw line. If you're a guard or perimeter player, practice shooting from the wing, or top of the key, like you would in a game.

Practice pump fakes and shot fakes to get the defense off-balance. Getting space to shoot the ball is very important, otherwise you can't get the shot off. So work on using dribble moves and shot fakes to get the space to shoot the ball.

Confidence. Being a good shooter requires lots of confidence. A good part of that comes from practice, lots of it, like we just mentioned. The better you become, the more confident you become. There's no point in shooting the ball if you don't think it's going to go in. When you shoot the ball, feel confident and sure of yourself.

It is easier to break the shot down in to steps when you lern to shoot. But when you get the steps down, use the same steps in your shot but just make it look like one fluid motion.

  6. Practice, Practice, practice

    Practice Makes Perfect

  7. Look first of all u need to take a quick second before u shoot and u also need to aim between the first and end part of the rim that u can see from ur position and most of all concentration

  8. tell your parents to buy you a shoot-a-way net. That will help you shoot a perfect shoot over anyone taller than you

  9. Move around when shooting, don't shoot from one spot, you want to get your self a good release and understand your most likely going to shoot off the dribble in a game. So what you want to do is play against someone and bump into them jump back and shoot. That's a great drill, it's one that professionals use with trainers. You also ant to make sure your good enough to be able to change your shot in air, there's going to be moments where you go up to shoot and your going to see a defender is going to block it, make sure you take tough shots, not just easy open ones. Most of all practice with other people, you can't get better just by practicing alone.

I like the BEEF thing that someone posted before this, that's another nice thing. Also if your struggling shooting, get yourself to the free throw line and make a few, it'll help you get your shot back.

NOTE: When I said take tough shots, that's only when practicing, you want to have a great shot selection in a game. Make sure you use as much screens and picks as you can to try to get yourself an open shot or a good shot. Also, a problem with a lot of us high school players, we fall in love with the 3-point shot, lay off it in practice/try outs unless your open. Or you know you can knock it down coming off some kind of screen or pick, it's even better to fake a shot and drive it to the basket, that's the best way to score in the NBA and any other basketball level.
