I have been a fan of horse racing for many years and I have decided that I want to become a jockey as I am light and small enough. I have researched it and read about all of the risks etc so now the only question i have is how to get started. I would really appreciate your help.

  1. first of all you have to become part of the jockey association , once you are find a local raceing trainer and say that your interested in being a jockey would you like to see me ride

  2. Well you could start by going to Chris McCarron's jockey school in Lexington, Kentucky.  Or you could start out the way most jockeys in the business start by going to work for a trainer as a hot walker or groom and work your way up to learn to exercise horses then apply for an apprentice jockey license when you feel you are ready.

  3. There are schools for training to be a jockey.

One is in Lexington KY the other is in Alberta Canada.

There is much to learn about being a jockey.

The employment rates from these schools is excellent. Most of the people who graduate work as jockeys.

Find out what it will take to get enrolled in one.

Many jockeys started out working on the backside at the track and moved up to riding as an exercise rider than took the test and got a jockeys permit. That would be the old school way now days I think many just go to school

  4. LIL MOMMAS, GO TO THE TRACK AND JUST ASK  THEM CAN I BE ON YOUR BOOK??? PLEASE I CAN RIDE A STORM SMILE.GO GET EM GIRL.

  5. well u must be really small and skinny and weigh about 6 pound you must be really good with horses and go 2 a horse riding camp you will stay there for about 2 monthes every year but it costs a lot of money so good luck
