  1. Insurance underwriters are not licensed. If you mean insurance agent you would have to check with your State insurance department for specific procedures but in most cases you would have to complete pre-licensing education and successfully complete a State examination.


  2. Insurance underwriters do not need to be licensed, just insurance brokers. Go to work for an insurance company, learn the business and you will become an underwriter.
