Question:

How to become a more agressive tackler in women's rugby?

I play for a collegiate women's rugby team in the US. I am not the biggest girl (5'6'' and 140lbs) but i've always been an agressive player. I recently switched from wing to flanker/8-man and am learning a whole different side to the game. However, last spring i ended up in the hospital with a pretty serious concussion-and since then i have had difficulty with being an agressive tackler. I tense up and am scared going into tackles of big girls-but i need to get over this. Any suggestions on tackling techniques i can use and/or tactics to get over this fear?

Thanks!

  1. You wound need to over come you're fear as it might start influencing your game. Start of by tackeling some off those tackeling bags. Take it slow in the beginning but as your confidence come back start hitting them harder & harder.

Tackeling is all timing, so you dont have to be the biggest person around. Except if you are Jerry Collins or Brain Lima.
