  1. Play college hockey for one of those 2 teams and hope to be drafted

  2. Start playing at a very young age, practice everyday, and try to get into as many leagues as you can.

  3. practice all the time......and play in as many leagues as you can at the highest level you can

  4. Ahh and you all forgot the most important thing... MONEY!! I am 22 and played hockey since i was 8 (ya i know not young enough of a start). But the biggest thing that held me back was the money. Travel hockey is sooo expensive and if you cant increase your competition you will not get better. so i hope your rich!

  5. Strict diet and work out regiment will help.  Natural skill is needed but if you work hard enough on your game it is possible.  You would need to be very young and commited to making it if you want to stand any chance.  My kids are gonna start at age 2 by running around the house with their skate laces untied to strenghten their ankles.

Core building and balance is key in hockey and leg muscles for the stride power.  To become a professional athlete you need to give up free  time and put it towards hockey.  I live in Canada, so I don't know what leagues are around Maine but I'm sure there would be something.
