How to become a registered indian?

i am 25% cherokee indian my father is 50% and my grandfather is 100%. here is the problem my father never really knew his father and we dont know where he is at anymore if he is still alive. my grandmother wont give me or my dad the proper information to become registered at the reservation. is there a way i can still get registered? im trying to go to school and i would like to take advantage of some of the benefits of being indian to help with my schooling. any ideas would be most helpful

  1. Your grandmother is the key ..get her to register first...If she said NO .. try to use foxy ways ..never give up


  2. I believe if you just know the names/maiden names of your relatives, that is all you need to get registered. There should be a website dedicated to the tribe, and there might be information on there for you to work with. But, as long as you know names, you should be all set!

  3. i know you can subit your dna for testing but online they want to charge you like 600.00 or mor. I'm cherokee as well and wanting to do the same as you but really it seems like a dead end. I was told by a friend that you can go to a hospital and they can take dna and send it off but that washed up too. My great grandfather was full blooded cherokee and my grandma was both cherokee and blackfoot. Call your local hospital and ask if they know. I can't remember the site i went to on the net but it is there it just cost a arm and a leg, then you don't know if it is legit. good luck
