2. Working in conservation means you need a biological background, so your first step would be to study zoology/biology at university. You will need to study the relevant sciences to get in. You will need a good degree too, to get involved in a project which involves animal conservation as there are lots of people wanting to do the same. You will almost certainly have to do a PhD as well - therefore to have the choice of the best projects, again a good degree is essential.

Do remember though, that even if you go this route you will be basically studying animals and that the core discipline is science - it is not a job where you are handling animals every day and looking after them as though they were pets.

As you are in Singapore and are close to regions of high biodiversity and conservation projects in progress, you should look for opportunities to become a field volunteer when you are older, you can start looking now and find out what skills and experience you will need.

However, in the short term good results in your sciences is a must.

  3. There's a few roads you could go. Degree in Biology with an emphasis in animal behavior/ zoology/ husbandry/ conservation/ ecology or some other related emphasis. Or you could go into Environmental Studies, and choose an emphasis there.

But what's most important is that you get experience. Try and get some volunteer work under your belt working with animals. Basically, if you have a Biology degree, you would be of interest to most any organization, but what puts you over the top is having experience working with animals or in the field. Look for rehabilitation centers, zoos, wildlife centers, or restoration projects in your area (if there are some), volunteer your time, do what you can in the field. That combined with your degree will help you narrow down what you want to focus on.

Good luck, and i hope this helped.

  4. I work as a park ranger and the only way to get a job in this field is to get lots of experience, which is almost always voluntary. You should try to do college courses or preferably a degree in a subject such as zoology or environmental science, stuff like that. I did zoology at university, but I wouldnt have got my job without doing voluntary work! have a look at all the links the other person gave you for ideas and advice.

  5. GET A DEGREE IN BIOLOGY WITH A MINOR IN ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
