I am 20 years old and I am very fast and want to get into rugby as a winger. But I am only 8 and a half stone. Does anybody have any suggestions how to improve my strength. It is just when I get tackled I get tackled into touch becuase I am so light.

  1. steroids

  2. i have the same problem man, playing for club i got smashed, i'm 9 stone (only  little heavier than you) but then unfortunately i'm much younger.

so maybe what you can do is eat more, perhaps take protein after your workouts, work on low repetitions and heavy weights with few sets

this makes your muscles bigger (then heavier) later work on strength by using lots of reps, lighter weights and more sets.

be careful though gaining weight can slow you down considerably, so keep up your leg strength speed and stuff

in the meantime (cuz getting bigger takes time) maybe you can get moved to outside center or inside center as a playmaker, use your speed and agility to snipe through the smallest of gaps so if you get tackled, just hold on tight, and no harm done, since your teams still in possession.

truly i understand the situation, but yeah, my protein powders not working...i'm still quite light

  3. Join a gym and try doing some weight training a few times a week, this will improve your strength! Most gyms have advisers that will help you. Tell them what you want and they should be able to draw up a regime for you to follow. Good luck!
