in response to lacostes mesg,i work in an electrical store. major brands like panasonic and sony are getting constantly outpriced by cheap fall apart c**p from local department stores,so they must sell their product cheaper to even get a look-in in the market, therefore they must source cheaper parts of less quality ...and so on...its a vicous cycle!

Try to know more & more about the products you buy & if you can't make out something then try to know that by asking somebody who may know it or ask on Yahoo answers, who in turn may help you.

To become and aware consumer, you first understand your requirements, selection of thing as per the requirements, quality, advantage and disadvantage of each things that you need to purchase, price and sources of money to purchase.

Most important is, you should identify whether the product is really required or not.

Simply don't buy anything.  Prices went up, and quality went down.  Im sorry to say.  I am a spender too.  I love to shop for new things, so I not just some tight wad telling you to save your money.
