  1. Declare a major in Education and start from there. Education is a 4 year degree so you'll need to attend the university. Also, during your senior year you'll be doing an internship as a student teacher!

  2. You will have to complete a 4 year degree (subject matter only is important if you are teaching 7-12 grade) and pass the CBEST and RICA  (if elementary) then you will have to take a subject matter competency test (all subjects with general knowledge for K-6 and high knowledge 1 subject if 7-12) Plus you will have complete a 1 to 1 1/2 year credentialing program. Then, you will have to either complete course work or a teacher induction program your first 2 years teaching.

  3. You will want to check with a 4 year college or university on the class requirements.  Call the college/university and you should be able to meet with an advisor who can give you advice on what classes to take.  Start there and they can tell you what else is involved, such as the student teaching, and tests you need to take to become certified.  I am starting my 20th year teaching and there's never a dull moment!

    Good luck.
