  1. OK, I think a lot of people misunderstood the question. If you want to become more fit to play libero, here are a few basic tips:

    - adductor and abductor exercises to strengthen side-to-side movement

    - squats are great for your core strength

    - Plyometrics (once you have good core strength from the squats, etc.)...Plyometrics give you not just jumping power but explosiveness...you will get where you are going more quickly. Follow a good program for this and never do it when you are injured.

One example program i have used was from:

    http://www.strengththroughscience.com/

There is also a good general volleyball conditioning book you may find helpful called "Complete Conditioning for Volleyball." It has a bunch of exercises and routines. You can get it from Amazon.com for about $13:

Last, try joining a local gym that offers free trainers, or at least where they will draw up a program for you. Describe to them what you are doing and they will probably have some recommended exercises. I am not a fitness expert, so I defer to the people and learn what I can!

Cardio should also be a part of anything you are doing. Distance running is probably not as important as getting your hart rate up and practicing good breathing techniques.

    Good luck!

  2. You know, you probably wont get many answers here on volleyball forum.  Not many people go here.  I'd type questions on the yahoo products yahoo answers category, I only tried 1 time.  I usually get like 5 answers but then i asked a question why do I get so little people responding to my questions.  It turns out this top contributor guy told me to ask my future questions in that category and I got 24 responses.  I was so happy.

For exercises  I would suggest isometrics.  You can google them and see what you get.  Then do those exercises.  I do them and I am in good shape (  i'm only 13 so I am not in great tipt op shape where I have big huge muscles ).

  3. What you need to do is get in shape.  Be able to run two miles in at most 13 minutes  Buy ladders at sports shops to help you get faster.  Jump-roping helps too.  When you watch tv do pushups, bicycle, lunges, situps, crunches or weights to help your legs be stronger.  at:

search volleyball and libero and they will give you extra tips on technique.  Also, run, swim, and bike.  Become an all around good athlete so you can be in good shape.  Any person can pass a vball but an athlete can do it with finesse and skill.  Good luck and happy training!!!

  4. One important thing for a libero is to be as agile as possible. You can't always predict where a hit is going to go, so you need to be able to throw your body whichever direction the ball is going as soon as you see it. Practice agility and being quick on your feet. Also practice diving while keeping your arms flat, sometimes that can be difficult. Pancakes are always good to practice as well. Overall, just be light on your feet and always watching the ball every second.

  5. Play pepper. This will give you all round skills, in cases where you might volley or hit, and also good passing practice. Always be on your toes, ready to move wherever the ball is it. Don't be afraid to hit the floor, but work hard so that you don't have to.  You can't be afraid of the ball, sometimes hits can hurt, but the pain will go away. Sprints and agility exercises are handy (such as quick feet back and forth). Practice not swinging your arms when passing. Good luck!!!

  6. be able to react fast and be able to save a volleyball from any way members of your team hit it..
