What are the CURRENT training requirements/schools, and prerequisites for becoming a member of marine force recon, and how long does it take. I have heard to qualify you must have anywhere from 3-5 years experiance, but I have also heard you can go straight to Recon indoc followed by recon training (if you pass indoc) immedietly after completing boot camp and infantry school. what is the truth?

  1. You can go immediately into Recon training if you pass indoc right after boot camp.  It's all out in Cali now.  Note: Force Recon no longer exists.  You would actually be a MARSOC marine.

  2. First you must be in the infantry, and yes during SOI the have an indoc for people that want to join.  After you complete SOI you will get orders to go there, but it doesn't mean your in.  The have to do a back ground check on.  It usually take about you year to be complete with everything.

  3. You cant. Force recon is no more. Now under new management, USSOCOM,
