How to break down a savage shotgun?

I just got my great grandads 12 gage shotgun. it is a savage 30 series D and i cant take off the barrel I take off the s***w that goes into the tube but the barrel dont want to come off. is there anyone that can help is there a trick to it or what..

According to Numrich gun parts the barrel is threaded, therefore I assume it screws in or out.*

As far as I can tell, they don't come off. Or at least I haven't figured out how to get mine off, either. You just have to do the best you can with a cleaning rod and getting into the nooks and crannies with q-tips and such.
