How to bring my back leg up more in leaps?

Ok, My sister (also a dancer) says that when I leap my front leg is really good and high, but my back leg is left behind and barely gets off the ground. I almost have my splits down. How can I get my back leg higher when I leap so its straight and vertical with my front leg? I tried lowering my front leg and trying to get my back leg snapping upwards but it didn't really work (I just tripped). And how can I get more height in my jumps?

  1. you should probably stretch every day because it's not something you just do you have to be flexible and have your splits past completely flat. because when you go into a split you're forcing your body weight down onto it, so naturally you'd be flatter than in a leap because all you're doing is jumping. just stretch when you wake up, in the middle of the day and before you go to bed, you'll see results.

  2. the first thing in dancing properly is to be FLEXIBLE. if you are flexible, then you will be able to do a lot of dance moves....  for the back leg, try giving your front leg a better thrust  from the toe while moving the back leg at a moderate spped. when you are in the air allign both your legs properly . keep practicing and you'll be smooth in it....and exercise yourself a lot to make your flexible.....

  3. Get  muscle. It takes a lot of work to get your leaps up high. So Do Some Strength Training and do you leaps (BUt not turns youll blow your knees) with Legs weights. Then when you tale them off your leaps will be higher.
