  1. Radio Shack has a book about it.  It is hard to just say do this or that because it is a little technical.  You can also search the net for the specific frequency that you need.


  2. you can get a coat hanger and make it straight, put foil paper at the end that stick's out and boom analog TV. the cheep way

  3. Any length of wire can work as a receiving antenna. The best antenna is matched to the impedance of the receiver.

    The higher and longer the better, but please be careful around power lines, you may be worried about destroying the radio, but you are a much more expensive piece of equipment than it is.

    If you are using a transmitter, impedance matching is crucial, since attempting transmission without a proper match can blow out the final stage of the amplifier. I did this twice when first getting started with my license in 1968, its a rather expensive mistake, and the newer solid state equipment is much less forgiving than the boat anchors we were using then.

    The Radio shack manuals will work. I can also recommend the Antenna Handbook published by the American Radio Relay League.
