Is it possible that someone could give me plans (with pictures) on how to build a pond filter that sits outside my pond. The pond can only hold about 500 gallons so I don't need anything huge.

Please try and find pages with specific instructions.

  1. If you just want to keep the water clean, add aquatic plants and goldfish. Otherwise purchase a small swimming pool filter kit from WalMart. About $70.00

  2. It's not hard to built a pond filter.  1. find a 5 gallon plastic bucket.  2.  Drill some 1/2" holes to the base.   3.  Put clean 1" rocks/ pebbles inside bucket. 4" to 6" deep  4.  get some filaments fiber /or sponges to put on top of the rocks.  Buy a 700-1000 gal capacity /hr. water pump with 3/4" clear plastic hose.  Drill a 3/4" hole to put that hose to top part of the bucket.  and place the pump to the water and plug it up...that is it.  INSTAND SUMP TANK.  The holes on the bucket will let the water back to the pond.  U can clean the sponges or filaments every 2 weeks.  Also..If u need more info on sump tanks....go to:  www.oscarfish.com.  U can even close the lid on the bucket.   Have fun.  P.S.  I am a member of Oscarfish also.
