Well, title says it all. I am looking for building my own PC and would like to know if there were some sites or people out there helping me out. I am not sure of my budget, I will find that out later. I know basic things about building one, but would still need some help. Much appreciated, thanks.

  1. Try TigerDirect for parts, they have decent prices and a really good guarantee. You will need a motherboard, processor, memory, power supply, video card (unless you have onboard video), fans (for case and processor), and a case. Assembling things is not that hard, but you can break things, so be careful. You will also need an operating system, such as Windows XP. I would look at a online guide for deatiled instructions for each part. Things generally will fit together if they are meant to.

  2. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_To_Buil...

Some vo-techs also have computer building courses where you build your computer under the supervision of a certified instructor. Just dont buy the parts from the places on the hand-outs you get in class. They rip you off price-wise.

I build them for a living and, like Thizzy said, the most important part of a build is designing it. Make sure all your hardware is compatible. Slapping a bunch of hardware together is easy--anyone can do that. Its after you press the power button the first time when things can get rather hairy. Make sure you have a rig with internet access around when you do your build. I get rigs in all the time that "experts" have built but have no clue about what to do when the tower doesn't fire up or run right. Most of the time its a compatibility issue. Thats why its important to design it right in the first place.

  3. I just built my first computer from components (didn't solder anything or print my own circuit boards), and I didn't have too many problems. http://www.daileyint.com/build/

  4. get the parts, get a screwdriver, wrist strap, and go for it.

    u never heard of google????

get a case, motherboard mount the motherboard in the case, get a cpu and ram insert it in the motherboard add the heat sink and fan ontop of cpu with thermal paste. add hdd, cd drive graphics card. hook up psu and the if u did it right should turn on. add os and ur set. its easy

hardest part is picking ur parts

  5. Without a budget it's hard to get specific.

    The basic components:

    Motherboard

    CPU

    Video Card

    RAM

    Power Supply

    Case

    Hard Drive

    CD ROM

(some components are built in the motherboard)

    Sound

    LAN

    USB

    Audio
