How to build up endurance?

Hello, I would like to build up some running/jogging endurance.

I need it BADLY....

I'm a skinny guy and all, but I can't run a flight of stairs without breathing hard.

I was wondering if there would be any tips starting up?

I'm 17, I have a nice perfect mile strip of road if that helps.

  1. I used to be out of shape to. Take it slow and try jogging for 20 min for 2 days of the week. After you feel comfortable try running longer and more often. Also go to the gym and work out. That also helps.

    good luck!

  2. Please, also take into account your health condition. Check with a doctor your heart, lungs, etc.

You may not push yourself if you are sick.

    Eat well.

  3. there's only one way, the hard way. you've gotta jog that mile road. my advice would be seeing how long you can go down it before tiring out. rest for 60 seconds, and finish the mile. afterwards, take a 45 second break and head back. try and get a longer distance this time and rest for only 30 seconds and then continue on home. when you near your house, like 30 yards or so, burst full out in a sprint. put every ounce of strength into it.

the next day try and jog a longer distance w/ a 45 second break. each time you break, cut off 15 seconds.

the day after, take a 30 second break on your first break and get more distance than before. keep that pattern

  4. I think you know what you have to do, it's not that hard: Just start running! Start easy, for the first week run every other day for a half hour. From there, keep trying to add either another day of running or run for a little longer, and soon you'll find yourself in much better shape.
