I have a decent amount of fat on my arms, especially around my biceps. Any tips on how to work it off? Like, does running help my arms? O__o

  2. It's hard to target a location but you can tone your muscles there which will burn fat. Toning would be doing something with less weight but more repetitions like push-ups.

  3. The key idea here is that it's physiologically impossible to "spot-reduce" fat deposits in a specific area. For example, you can't do a bunch of crunches and expect the fat from your belly to disappear. This just isn't how your body works.

Fat is mobilized from all sorts of places on your body. For example, someone who loses a lot of weight will appear to have skinnier faces. Does this mean they were working out their facial muscles by smiling, frowning or something similar? no!

When you burn calories, fat deposits are used from all different locations in the body. Doing leg curls will burn just as much fat off your arms as biceps curls!

The best way to burn fat is to have a combination of strength training, cardio and proper nutrition. Strength training to build muscle (muscle in itself burns a ton of calories), cardio because you need to do aerobic exercises to burn fat (in other words, you need to go through a lot of oxygen molecules to burn a lot of fat) and nutrition so that you're not storing everything you eat.

With nutrition, try spreading out your calories over 5-6 meals ever three hours throughout the day. This'll keep your metabolic rate up where it should be, thereby burning more calories during the day. Remember to take in proteins and complex carbs ("good" carbs) with every meal. This method increases the time it takes for the carbs to be absorbed by the body, thereby regulating insulin levels and preventing energy "crashes".

It's best to ease yourself into this method as it's pretty difficult to just start off, especially when you have lots of other commitments. Just give it a shot and good luck :) Just remember, there's no such thing as spot reducing!

    Hope this helps :)
