How to burn so many shows on a single DVD?

the technician at the place that i got my laptop from is such a genius. he found a way to burn like 8 episodes of Star Track per DVD. any idea how he did it. and he said that he doesn't use dvd shrink because it takes out too many parts of the movie. the software he used was allok video joiner and Nero.
