  1. Several have already said it, but I am bored and will say it again.

Texas issued D.L. or I.D. with correct address on it and fill out all the Brady paper work.....and of course you need the $..

    Good Luck

  2. An old ID works too (preferably picture ID).

Your current DL and an older under 21 ID work fine for me.

FYI: The very best form of identification in the United States is a US Passport

  3. In Texas you only need one form of state issued ID or a passport.

That's it, that's all, well except for the Brady Bunch paperwork if you buy from a dealer.

  4. Call a gun store in Texas and ask.

  5. A valid State issued I.D. or D.L. is all you need my friend. That and clearence from the FBI through NICS.

  6. try going to yahoo search or google and typing in texas gun laws. thats what i did and im now the proud owner of a Springfield .45 XD with a concealed carry permit.

  7. Well i cant tell you exactly how it works in texas, but here in michigan everytime ive bought a rifle/shotgun all ive done is give the clerk my drivers liscense and fill out a form and they do their backround check and viola!

However i know here that to buy a pistol you have to go to a police station to get a permit to buy one.(which costs five bucks i believe and they do their own checks on you) And then you take that to the seller and your good to go. I cant imagine texas having more restrictive purchasing procedures than michigan but the easiest thing would to go to a dealer and ask them exactly what documents you need.

  8. A state issued ID card and a Social Security Card should suffice in most places.

If you don't have a Social Security Card, you need to apply for a replacement card.

Whether or not the same procedure applies to long guns and short guns depends on the state in which you reside.  Hopefully one of the Texican members of YA will give you the info you need.

    Doc

  9. Too much drama

All you need is a valid state ID showing your actual address or at least the address that matches the one you put on the 4473

I haven/t had a SS card for over 30 years
