How to buy a handgun? ?

I'm 20 and live in michigan. If I go into a gun store and decide to purchase a handgun I would have to wait like 3 days right? Is that it or do I have to have any kind of liscense or anything? Thanks

You'd go to the sheriffs dept. or local law enforcement, and apply for a permit to purchase,its a green trifold card with your thumb print on it,they'd run a background check and take your information,issue the permit..you'd then go to a gun shop ,pick out the item you wanted and they'd fill out all the information on your card,you may have a waiting period depending on local ordinances,no federal wait because the permit had abackground check ran already..you'd then have to return to the sheriffs office with your gun ,in a locked box unloaded, and they'd "inspect it and file part of your permit,leaving you one piece for yourself...ONLY you have to be 21 to buy a handgun in MI ,you can register one at 18 but must be 21 to obtain a purchase permit.also you will still need a training class and license if you want to carry it on your person,some down state areas are very hard to obtain license or even purchase permits in.

And no, you don't have to wait 3 days after you turn 21.  You can walk out of the store 30 minutes after deciding which one you want.
