How exactly do you pump gas prepaid? You get to the station, turn off the car, walk in and tell the attendant you want 20$ on pump 3 (do they add tax?). Then you go back out and stick it in and does it pump it for you and stop for you? Could someone clarify this for me? the whole process

  1. In the US, taxes are included in the advertised price for fuels.  (Unfortunately, because we're a bunch of backwards ******* retards, this is about the only product in the US where tax is included in the advertised price.)

And yeah, you've pretty much got it.  You pay for a certain amount on a certain pump, you put the nozzle in and pump the gas, it will slow down when it gets near the amount, then cut off when it reaches that amount.

  2. You give the gas attendant your $20.00 and go pump the gas. It will stop when you reach the $20.00 mark or your tank is full. The taxes are already included in the cost of the fuel.

When you are done you can go back in a get change (if you are owed change) or get a receipt. If you need neither you replace your gas cap and drive away.
