How to calculate an electric ac generator if the voltage is 220 and the amps is 440 on each legs ?

in a main panel de readings in each legs is 440 amps at 220 vac, how many kva generatos do i have to use?

  1. The selection of AC generator is on the basis of load required. I think the data furnished by you is not sufficient to tell you the capacity of the AC generator. You must let us know what is the load you are connected and based on that we can let you know the capacity of the generator.


  2. For 3 phase: kva = ( 440amps x 220vac x 1.73 ) / 1000

                             = 167464 / 1000 = 167.464 kva

    For single phase: kva = ( 440amps x 220vac ) / 1000

                                    = 9680 / 1000 = 96.8 kva

  3. Kva = 1.732[220]440/1000

          = 167.65

    Standard AC generators are rated not in odd numbers. Therefore, you will need more,200KVA,3-phase , 220Volts.
