a .2 kg cart and a 2 kg cart are pushed iwith equal force forward for 1 second, without friction, over a horizontal surface, starting from rest. After the interaction at t=1 sec compare the momentum of the .2 kg cart and the 2 kg cart

  1. the momentum of the 2kg  cart was obviously much stronger because it weighs more and the weight gave it more velocity

  2. For 0.2 kg cart:

    F=ma

      =m(v-u)/t

    u=0 , t= 1

    F=mv

    v=F/m

      =F/0.2

    v=5F

    P=mv

       =0.2 x 5F

       =F

    For 2 kg cart:

    F=mv

    v=F/2

    P=mv

       =2 x F/2

       =F

    Both carts have the same momentum
