Question:

How to calculate non-periodic rate of return without Excel?

I don't have Excel so I don't have the XIRR function readily available.

It'd be nice to calculate the real rate of return on my investment portfolio with the stipulation that I've been depositing and withdrawing funds erratically.

Does anyone know of a program I can try for free, or an online calculator that works?

Thanks.

  1. i just checked.

Openoffice Calc has the XIRR() function

its free, its safe, and it works

the source has the link to the download.

    enjoy.

  2. Google Documents has an online spreadsheet that has the XIRR function. You need an account with Google, but it is entirely free. Saves downloading and installing OpenOffice.
