How to calculate the head of the chilled water pump

for pump head calculation do we need to consider the pressure drop of the complete system or just longest path. and wht abt the pressure drops of AHUs and FCUs

  1. Figure the 'head' for the longest path with all 'drop's included.

    Then you'll have to balance the system.


  2. The path with the most resistance. The drop thru any AHUs and/or FCUs or any built-up fan room coil banks will be just a few feet and will be included in that path summation. Don't forget the control valve dp. With the pump suction and discharge directly connected to the loop, hydrostatic head will balance -out. Water coils inlet connect at the bottom, outlet at top, control valve on outlet.
