suppose radius of earth is R=6370km

the GEO satellite altitude is 3580km

the sensor scans earth, builds one earth image every 30min in vsible band

the resolution of earth imae is 2.5 km in visual channel (VIS).

Q1:assume image of earth is a square. what is the size of image (in pixels)?

Q2:if each pixel uses 8 bits, how many bits contains one earth image?

Q3: what is the minimum bit rate for sending one full earth image to a ground station?

does anybody can give me a hits, or indications, or some idea s how to work out?

  1. If you worked out the correct format statements I see no reason why you could not transmit a picture as one number maybe 2^30  or just a 30 bit number or less.
