  1. Length X Width = Sq. ft.

    Example of Retangle  12 x 10= 120sq. ft

    Square (if both sids are the same)  12 x 12= 144sq. ft

  3. measure the length and width in feet. multiply length and width to get sq foot.

    if your room  floor isn't rectangular, try to approximate it by breaking it down into rectangles

  4. See above. For things that jut out into the room (like a fireplace), figure the square footage using the same formula of that, then subtract from original number.
