  1. This depends upon the units that you want, but volume is always length X width X height and will be in cubic measurements.

    If you use centimeters, then the volume is in cubic centimeters (cc) which is usually taken to be the same as milliliters (mL).

    One US gallon of water is 0.133681 cubic feet or 231 cubic inches.

    The volume of water can be calculated if you know the temperature and the mass of the water (water density changes with temperature).

    In engineering problems, volumes can be calculated, but usually water volume is not calculated but measured directly.


  2. mL=cm^3

    So if you were to find out how  many mL's the water contained, you'd know.

    So put it in a graduated cylinder.
