  1. In this example (01149152-08659XXX) I doubt the number is right as the pre dial would be 0152, so the "real" number would start with a zero and it actually never does...

  2. Ok if it is a Cell phone and you are calling from the USA and their number is like this

0179202021753 you would dial 01149-179202021753 and drop the 0 before  the 17. The same also applies with a house phone.

Calling a Cell phone usually costs more per minute and their is also usually a special connection fee as well depending on your carrier.

If you are calling cell phone to cell phone only a few in the USA have the ability to call overseas where they can call us with there's. Odd huh!! But true.

So in your case of 0114915208659xxx you have only 11 digits here not 12 after the country and area code 01149 you are missing one digit you have 11 there not 12. Maybe that is why as well.

    Good luck.

  3. Replace your cellphone. I've worked in that business for some years here in Germany, and it was known since 2002 that eleven-digit-numbers would be replaced some day, as private providers would be running out of number space. If your cellphone doesn't support longer numbers, it's time for a new one.

((I edited this message to shorten it down to the details. For more information, send mail.))

  4. In Germany we call internationally from internet cafes. (You should know them). If you have something like this in Ft Knox try calling from one of these places. Or use another public phone. You could then tell whether this is a general problem when you call from the US to the new German mobile numbers or limited to verizon.

BTW many people who answer questions in the Germany section live in Germany and are thus not qualified to answer. I think you might have better luck asking at http://www.toytowngermany.com

  5. I would find out if this contact can find some other 12 digit numbers for you to test (friends maybe), and then if none of them work report this issue to Verizon and refuse to pay for the international plan until it works.
