How to calm down before my concert?

Question

I am singing and playing the guitar and i will be performing alone at stage for hours...it's my first time.the promotion went fairly good but i am so anxious...help!

Before the show, I'd practice but not enough to hurt your fingers or whatever.

But reserve your last ten minutes alone to try to get out your nervous energy by either relaxing or jumping up and down, I've seen both. Or, have somebody backstage that you can talk to, because they'll encourage you.

If you can, look at your guitar or a spot on the wall until you finish that first song. After that, the response from the audience will give you the courage to continue until you become more confident.

drink some cough syrup, go crazy on stage, make mosh pits and stage dive...oh and break your guitar threw the amps

look at the back of the room at first, but act like you're having a great time and act natural, like ur supposed to be onstage.

I understand; I play solo Irish harp, and have for about sixteen years now. But I certainly remember being very nervous when I first started. Some adrenaline is helpful; it will keep you alert and focused, as long as you can keep it managed.

What helped me most early on is to keep in mind that the audience is there to see you. They want you to do well, and they are rooting for you! Even if you mess up, they aren't going to be anything but sympathetic and willing to hear you play.

And when they applaud at the end (and they will, I promise!), they aren't just being polite...they mean it. That's the truth, and if you can get yourself to accept and believe that, it gets much easier to play in front of people.

Over time, the more often you hear that applause, the easier it will be to understand that the audience really did enjoy what you did for them, and to accept that you do sound good!

I played on stage once a couple times.  I just bring the mindset, of lets just concentrate on the music.  Nothing else deserves my concentration.  So just be the music.  And they will love you for it.

Deep breathing and relaxation. You are getting confused with adrenaline which makes you anxious and nervous.

Once you belt that first note off, everything falls in place. Just remember that you are the performer and the others are coming to see you. So you can walk your head off and think that way.

well just have somebody thats special to you sit in the audience and look at them and pretend they are the only one there.......its just you and them in the room........thats what i alwaiis do and it works for me
