As always, it depends on the wording of your contract with the gym, if you have entered into a contract for instance to pay a set amount over a year, then you have to pay it, you cannot get out of it without their consent.

If you cancel your direct debit as some have suggested, they are well within their rights to sue you for the full amount and they WILL win, that's what contracts are for.

Tell the gym at reception.Then go to the Bank and cancel Direct Debit.
