How to capture our destop as video what softwre it needs ?

we can capture through web cam but some peolples use some software for capturing destop as video file how they use like that ????????

I use hypercam. The free version leaves a little logo at the top left corner though. I use it to capture the screen when I'm playing a game, so I don't really care about the logo.
