Hi. My cat brought in a mouse 2 nites back; he didn't have nebites or injuries that I could tell (cause ive heard cat saliva can kill em). i tried finding his nest but he couldve been newhere around my neighborhood, so im going to try n keep him longterm. he has fur (except on his belly) but his eyes r still closed. Ive been feeding him a mix of kitten formula n a lil bit of pedialyte n keepin him warm in a cage w/pine bedding.

Im tryin 2 find info on the developmental stages of baby mice (preferably like a day by day outline) as well as any other info or advice that could help me. Ne tips would b gr8ly appreciated thx =]

  1. you are lucky it has lasted this long, just keep it up

  2. GOOD JOB, i always try to save baby animals and animals (:, please do not use pine or ceder shavings cause it can cause respitory problems thats could lead to death :( so buy aspen they are really good you can usually by them at wal-mart,there is also eco-save shavings or something like that i buy aspen cause its good and cheap at wal-mart . You should also try feeding him soggy bread that you soacked in water then put it in a syringe, thats how i raised a baby bird (: good luck

  3. If your baby mouse was brought in by your cat, you'll need to take it to an exotic vet ASAP.  There's a large chance your baby mouse might die of infection from a bite than anything else.

If possible, you should try to give your baby mouse to a wild animal care facility.  Taking care of a baby mouse will take lots of work.  In its first weeks, you'll have to feed the mouse every 1-2 hours, and yes even during the night.  You're setting yourself up for some lack of sleep.

Here's some sites to check out regarding the care of baby mice:

Hope that helps and good luck with your mouse!

  4. I'd give it to a local pet centre for rescued wild animals.Only they would be better looking after it.

  5. I actually just finished sucessfully hand raising 6 baby mice and from the sound of yours it is probably around 1 1/2 to 2 weeks old. I started hand raising mine when they were orphaned at 1 1/2 weeks old. I fed them Esbilac puppy milk replacement, with Pedialyte mixed in every once in a while, every 3-4 hours until they reached 3 weeks and from there I gradually increased the time between feedings until they were weaned at 7 weeks. You are doing good using the Pedialyte, I'm not sure about the kitten formula you'll probably have to look that up. Just keep it warm and fed. And don't give up, it gets very tiring feeding them at such close intervals but you can do it. I hope this helps. Good luck.
