  1. we had a chil with add , all you can do is fet your child on a good medication and have a lot of paitence. dont believe the coke and coffee thing , stay away from as much caffine as possible it only makes them mor hyper. but she done well in life she just got her degree in surg tec ,very proud of her.

  2. I would say to be tough.  I know, that's the hardest advice.  Keep in mind though that the world is not going to be easy on him/her because of a disability.  Everyone is on the same playing field.  No extra "add" points when it comes to grades, prmotions, etc.  He/she would be better to prepare for that.

  3. well my aunts child has add and she is also autistic and its not really different caring for her as she does for her other child without it. Just be sure that she has classes with a special doctor for that. And dont use the treatments like pills or medicine....many people belive thats what gave out ADD...Hope this helps! Im sure ur child is beautiful and bright! Hope everything works out 2!

  4. Work closely with the school and the Dr...establish a calm and accepting environment...with expectations for acceptable behaviour...

  5. Oh my goodness, there are so many things.  If this is your child check into changing their diet, sometimes this has a huge effect.  Also, a lot of patience and a rigid schedule work wonders.  Set aside quiet time for homework, and I mean silent, it is much harder for them to concentrate.  Good luck!

  6. when did he get ADD? call my s.s. teacher. hes worked with add stuents before. he goes by the name Jeff Morrison. youll find him at www.lovett.org 6th grade teacher

  7. Does the child have medication yet? That should help out.

  8. My son was diagnosed with ADD in 3rd grade.  We were reluctant to put him on medication, but he has done well on it.  He still struggles some but he's had to catch up on three years of school when he couldn't focus at all.  Good luck.

  9. well my 2 little sisters have that and you give them a cup of coffee or coke in the morning crazy sounding i know but TRUST ME it works...They will actually remain calm through out the day!!!!

  10. Discipline the child as you would anyone else. ADD is NOT an excuse for ill behavior and the child should be punished for their actions when they misbehave. They have difficulty focusing.

  11. i was (and still am in many ways at 24) a child with ADHD. i suggest seeking the help of a counselor (as my mom did) for advice, also there is a really good book on the market, here is the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Parenting-Children... I have my BS in biology from a top school and i am going to grad school, so don't feel hopeless, ADD kids just have to study in different and engaging ways. Good luck!

  12. well I'm not sure how to answer because i don't have much info. on what the real problem is. but just remember that u have to be very patient with the kid and sometimes medicating your child is not the best answer because of all the risks. but just hang in there!

  13. And I need specifics, what's the main issues?
